Clermont, Fla. - The Farmingdale State softball team split again on day 3 of their games at the NTC Softball complex at the Dot Richardson Spring Games. The Rams now hold a 3-3 overall record with four games left to play.
Farmingdale State fell in the 9:00 a.m. game against Lakeland College (Wisc.). Lakeland score seven runs over the first three innings and held a 7-1 lead. Freshman third baseman/pitcher Andrea Klarman (Medford, N.Y.) homered in the sixth inning for the Rams, who also scored a run in the seventh but fell 8-3.
Klarman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Freshman first baseman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 and sophomore catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.
In the second game of the day, Farmingdale State faced Becker College (Mass.) and took the 7-2 victory.
Leading 3-2 in the top of the sixth, the Rams packed on three more runs with a double by junior centerfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) and a triple by junior right fielder Marissa Monaco (Bohemia, N.Y.). They scored one more in the seventh on a passed ball.
Monaco finished 2-for-4 with 3 RBI's, while Mongiello was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. Klarman got the win in her first start, allowing just four hits with three strikeouts and one earned run.
