Rams Shutout Sage in First Round of Playoffs

#2 Farmingdale State - 8, #3 The Sage Colleges - 0


Purchase, N.Y. - Sophomore pitcher Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) threw a complete game shutout as the Rams defeated The Sage Colleges 8-0 in the First Round of the Skyline Playoffs this afternoon. 

In the bottom of the first, sophomore center fielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) gave Farmingdale State a 1-0 lead with an RBI double. The Rams added an unearned run to take a 2-0 lead after one inning.

After increasing the lead to 3-0, a Mongiello RBI single which scored sophomore right fielder Sam Johrden (Deer Park, N.Y.) put Farmingdale State on top 4-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Rams opened up a 7-0 lead on an RBI single by senior first baseman Jennifer Jarczynski (West Babylon, N.Y.) and a Kristen Flint (Brentwood, N.Y.) 2 RBI double. Flint later scored an unearned run as Farmingdale State captured their first game of the Skyline Playoffs.

Mongiello was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and 2 RBI, while Flint was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and 2 RBI. Jarczynski had two hits, a run scored and a run batted in for the Rams.

Tedeschi improved to 10-6 on the year after allowing eight hits and striking out seven.
