Webb Tosses Shutout as Rams Split at MSMC

Game 1: Mount Saint Mary - 2, Farmingdale State - 1

Game 2: Farmingdale State - 3, Mount Saint Mary - 0


Newburgh, N.Y. - Sophomore pitcher Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) threw a complete game shutout in game two as the Rams split a conference doubleheader at Mount Saint Mary College. Farmingdale State is now 15-13 overall and 8-4 in the Skyline, while the Knights are 14-10, 5-3.

In game one, Mount Saint Mary quickly went ahead 2-0 after scoring a run in each of the first two innings.

In the top of the sixth inning, senior first baseman Jennifer Jarczynski (West Babylon, N.Y.) hit a one out double and later scored on a Kristen Flint (Brentwood, N.Y.) RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Rams hit a two out double in the last inning but were unable to score at the Knights took the first game 2-1.

Flint was 2-for-2 with 1 RBI, while freshman catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) was 2-for-4 at the plate.

Sophomore pitcher Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) allowed two runs over six innings for Farmingdale State.

In the second game, the Rams broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning on a 2 RBI double by Jarczynski which scored sophomore Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) and junior Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State tacked on one run in the sixth inning on a Flint RBI double to cap off the 3-0 victory.

Jarczynski was 1-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI, while Genova had two hits and scored two runs.

Webb allowed no runs, four hits and struck out eight after throwing a complete game shutout.

The Rams next will travel to Mount Saint Vincent for a Skyline DH on Sunday, April 14th at noon.
