Keenan and Zino Named NFCA All-Atlantic Region

Starkville, Miss. - Two Farmingdale State softball players, juniors Kaitlin Keenan (West Islip, N.Y.) and Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y.), received All-Region recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for 2011.

Keenan, who was also a First Team All-Skyline selection, was named to the Atlantic Region Second Team after finishing the year with a .432 batting average. In regular-season play, she led the team in batting average (.454) and hits (49). In 37 games played, Kait posted 54 hits in 125 at-bats with 30 runs scored and 21 runs batted in.

Zino, who was named the Skyline Pitcher of the Year for her third consecutive year, grabbed an At-Large spot on the Atlantic Region Third Team. She finished with a 20-3 overall record and a 1.29 earned run average. Zino recorded 10 of the teams 16 shutouts this year and struck out a school record 187 batters. She also posted school records for Most Wins, Lowest ERA and Most Shutouts.
