Zino Throws No-Hitter as Rams Sweep Purchase

Purchase, N.Y. - Junior pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y.) threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 batters in game one of the Skyline doubleheader against Purchase College (3-3, 0-2 Skyline). The Rams took the second game 13-0 as Zino improved to 9-0 on the season after allowing only one hit in the victory.
In game one, Farmingdale State (14-2, 4-0) was led by junior first baseman Aubrey Walker (West Babylon, N.Y.) who went 3-for-4 at the plate with five RBI and four runs scored. Walker hit two homeruns, including a grand slam. Sophomore third baseman Kristen Flint (Brentwood, N.Y.) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, while junior outfielder Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y.) had two hits and scored three runs. Sophomore catcher Lauren Nelson (Levittown, N.Y.) and junior outfielder Kaitlin Keenan (West Islip, N.Y.) each had two hits in the victory. The Rams had 17 hits as a team in the victory.
In the second game, sophomore Jennifer Jarczynski (West Babylon, N.Y.) hit three home runs, had six RBI and scored three runs for Farmingdale State. Keenan had three hits, while Richman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Zino, who earned her ninth win of the season, allowed one hit and struck out six batters.
Farmingdale State next will host Ramapo in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, March 31st at 3:30 p.m.
