Zino and Buckshaw Fan Sage in Doubleheader Sweep

Farmingdale, N.Y. - With a combined 22 strikeouts, junior pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and senior pitcher Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y.) each picked up a win as the Rams defeated Skyline opponent The Sage Colleges, 8-3 and 7-2, today in doubleheader softball action. The Rams improved to 12-2, 2-0 in the conference while the Gators drop to 0-7, 0-2.
In game one, Zino struck out 13 batters for her seventh win of the year (7-0), just shy of hitting her career high school record of 15 strikeouts. Junior second baseman Madison Snyder (Medford, N.Y.) was 1-for-3 with three RBI's, while junior centerfielder Kaitlin Keenan (West Islip, N.Y.) finished 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and one run scored.
In game two, the Rams had a 4-0 lead after two innings and added three more in the third, cruising to victory holding Sage to just four hits. Buckshaw got the win in four innings of work with four strikeouts to improve her season record to 5-1. Zino pitched the final three innings, fanning five with no hits and one walk. Junior first baseman Aubrey Walker (West Babylon, N.Y.) was 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore designated hitter Jen Jarczynski (West Babylon, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with one run scored.
The Rams will travel to face Purchase College tomorrow for another conference doubleheader at Noon.
