Six Rams Receive All-Skyline Softball Honors


Lawrenceville, N.J. - The Farmingdale State softball team had six players receive All-Skyline Conference honors this season. Sophomore shortstop Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Year and freshman pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) was named Pitcher of the Year. Sophomore pitcher Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot), sophomore catcher Arielle Morelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot), freshman first baseman Aubrey Walker (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and freshman outfielder Kaitlin Keenan (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) were named First Team All-Skyline.

Farber hit a school-record and conference leading 13 home runs this season. She batted .472 with 50 hits, 43 runs batted in, 40 runs scored and had a slugging percentage of .981.

Pitching in her first collegiate season, Zino held a 14-1 record with a conference best 1.13 earned run average. In her first collegiate game, she pitched a one-hitter and broke the school’s single-game strikeout record with 13. On April 15th vs Old Westbury broke her own record with 14 K’s. She had 15 complete games and set a new Farmingdale State College record for strikeouts in a single season with 138.

Buckshaw held a 14-3 record with a 1.55 E.R.A this season. In 104 innings pitched, she walked just 14 batters and struck out 75. She recorded 6 shutouts in 16 complete games this season.

Morelli batted .313, had 21 hits, 13 runs scored and two homeruns this season. She held a .974 fielding percentage.

Walker, started all 34 games and finished second on the team with a .455 batting average. She had 50 hits, six triples, 35 RBI and 37 runs scored. In conference games, Walker held an .878 slugging percentage.

Keenan batted .443 and led the team and conference with 51 hits. She had 26 RBI, 37 runs scored and was a perfect 10-for-10 in stolen bases this season.
