Farber and Zino Named ECAC Metro Players of the Week
- Farber named Player of the Week; Zino named Pitcher of the Week -
Centerville, Mass. - Junior shortstop Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was named ECAC Metro Softball Player of the Week and sophomore pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) was named Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, April 27th. This is the second time this year they have swept the weekly ECAC Metro awards.
Farber hit .889 in two double headers this week. She recorded another NCAA record with six consecutive hits against Staten Island, along with two RBI’s, two walks and two stolen bases in the Rams 5-0 and 17-2 victories. Against Mount Saint Mary, she went 2-for-3 with two walks, one RBI and two stolen bases as the Rams took wins of 3-0 and 8-0.
Zino went 2-0 this week, posting another week with a 0.00 ERA. Against Staten Island, she allowed four hits and walked only two with eight strikeouts. Against Mount Saint Mary, she struck out a school record 15 batters, breaking her own record from last season of 14 K’s, to take a 3-0 victory with no walks and just two hits.
