Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team (6-3, 2-0 Skyline) won both games of a doubleheader against Skyline Conference opponent Maritime College (3-7, 0-4 Skyline) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams claimed victory quickly in the first game, 12-1. The second game was tied going into bottom of the second before freshman left fielder Kim Ferraiolo (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) singled to center fielder with two outs, scoring the winning run to make the score 8-7.
In game one, senior catcher Gina Moscato (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) went 2-for-2 with two triples, four runs scored, two runs batted in, two walks and a stolen base. Junior shortstop Amanda Sperling (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) also finished 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored, two runs batted in and two walks.
In game two, Ferraiolo finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base including the winning run-scoring single for the Rams.
Junior first baseman Rachel Rennie lead the Privateers' offense, going 3-for-6 with two double, three RBIs, and a run scored.
Farmingdale will faced Mount Saint Mary's tomorrow (Wednesday) in another Skyline doubleheader at 3:30pm in Newburgh, N.Y.
