Rams Lose Conference Double-Header to Kings Point

Farmingdale State dropped to 9-9 overall, 6-6 Skyline after losing two close games to visiting conference opponent Kings Point (20-14, 12-3 Skyline) on Sunday afternoon at Farmingdale field.

Farmingdale’s freshman pitcher Jaclyn Buckshaw (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) left the first game after three innings because of an injury, leaving junior Tiffany deBeaumont (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) at the helm with the score tied 1-1. Kings Point’s Andrea Carey knocked in Liz Hagner for the game winning run in the fourth, before the Mariners scored two more for a 4-1 lead. Hagner also hit a double in the fifth to bring in the fifth and final run for Kings Point.

In game two, Merchant Marine took a 1-0 lead in the first off a Hagner single. Brittany Thornhill hit an RBI single in the fourth for the game deciding run and the score 2-0. Farmingdale’s Kristen Tong (Swanzey, NH/Monadnock Regional) put the Rams back in the game with an RBI single in the fifth, scoring Devan Weber (Huntington, NY/Huntington) to cut the Mariners lead to 3-1. There would be no scoring in the final two innings, giving Kings Point the 3-1 victory and another conference win.

The Rams will travel to Newburgh, NY on Monday, April 25th for a Skyline double-header against Mount Saint Mary starting at 1:00pm.
