Women's Team Shines at ECAC Championship

Northampton, Mass. - The Farmingdale State women's indoor track team scored 17 points to tie for 17th place out of 42 scoring and 66 entered teams at the ECAC Championship. This is Farmingdale's highest team finish in school history.

Freshman Corine Magee (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) scored in three events and set school records in her two individual events. Magee placed third in the 55m dash on Saturday in a program best 7.25 (7.34 trials). This is a National provisional qualifying mark. She placed fourth in the 200m in a record 26.08, which is the fourth time this season she has set a new 200m record.

Freshman Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) broke her own school record in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.55 in trials. She placed eighth in the finals in 8.73, the second fastest time in this event in her career. Freshman Faustine Chukwuezi (Central Islip, N.Y./Central Islip) placed eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.17m (36' 7 3/4").

On Friday, Magee, Mandat and Chukwuezi teamed with freshman Kathleen Clermont (Uniondale, N.Y./Uniondale) in the 4x200m relay, placing fifth in 1:47.31.

The men's team scored six points to place 35th in the meet. Sophomore James Owen (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) (1:07.57) and junior Greg Denis (Tallahassee, Fla./Elmont Memorial) (1:08.09) placed fifth and seventh respectively in the 500m to lead the men's scoring. Owen set a personal best with his time in the 500m.
