Rams Finish Second and Ninth at Collegeville Indoor Classic

Men Finish 2nd, Women Finish 9th at Collegeville Indoor Classic 

 


 

Collegeville, Pa. - The men's and women's teams placed second and ninth respectively out of 14 NCAA Division II and III teams on Friday, January 18th at the Collegeville Indoor Classic at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. Kutztown State (Pa.), a Division II school, won both competitions narrowingly beating Farmingdale 87 to 80.

The men's team was led by senior captain Reggie Routier and junior Naveed Mohammed. Reggie triple jumped 14.01m (45' 11 3/4"). This is a national provisional qualifying performance. Reggie is the current Farmingdale triple jump record holder at 14.33m (47' 1/4").

The women's team was led by junior Cathryn McLean. McLean won the high jump and ran the anchor leg on the winning 4X200m relay. An exceptional volleyball player in addition to her track accomplishments, Cat was Farmingdale State's 2006-07 Female Athlete of the Year. She is ECAC qualified in the high jump, 1.62m (5' 3 3/4").

High Jump - Akil williams, Tie 1st place, 1.93m (6' 3 3/4")
Long Jump - Naveed Mohammed, 3rd place, 6.65m (21' 10")
Long Jump - Qasim Ellis, 4th place, 6.51m (21' 4 1/4")
Triple Jump - Reggie Routier, 2nd place, 14.01m (45' 11 3/4"), National Provisional qualifier
Triple Jump - Chris Herbst, 5th place, 13.47m (44' 2 1/2"), ECAC qualifier
55m High Hurdles - Chris Herbst, 2nd place, 7.92 secs, improves ECAC qualifying time
55m - Naveed mohammed, 2nd place, 6.57 secs, improves ECAC qualifying time
200m - Naveed mohammed, 2nd place, 22.98 secs, ECAC qualifier
4X200m Relay - Naveed Mohammed, Kensley Norian, Jason Chin Chitty, Azell Green - 1st place 1:33.87, improves ECAC qualifying time
4X400m Relay - Kensley Norian, John Bates, Greg Denis, Akil williams - 3rd place, 3:32.34

Women's Scorers:
High Jump - Cathryn McLean, 1st place, 1.52m (4' 11 3/4")
4X200M Relay - Ali Smith, Shannon Degnan, Nicole Zarek, Cathryn McLean - 1st place, 1:58.42

The teams will run next at the Great Dane Invitational on Friday, January 25th at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York City.
