Rams Get Prepared for ECAC's at NYU Fast Track

Manhattan, N.Y. - Farmingdale State men's and women's indoor track ran at the NYU Fast Track Invitational on Friday, February 23rd, their last chance to qualify for the ECAC Championships next weekend. Junior Chris Okolie broke the school record in the 35-lb Weight Throw with a toss of 14.33-meters (47' 1/4"), placing 8th in the event. The previous record of 46' 3/4" was set by Greg Lewis.

The 4x400m Relay team of Kensley Norian, Jason Chin Chitty, Azell Green and Akil Williams ran 3:24.58 to qualify for the ECAC's. Kensley also ran a personal best of 50.65 in the 400-meter to qualify for another race at the ECAC's. Kensley is now qualified in four events: 200-meter, 400-meter, 4x200-meter, 4x400-meter Relays.

Chris Herbst finished in an ECAC qualifying 8.12 in the 55-meter High Hurdles, adding that event to his list of qualifying events, as he will also be competing in the Triple Jump.

Cathryn McLean set a personal best in the Triple Jump with a 10.17-meter (33'4") jump. She placed 9th in the event.

Akil Williams placed 4th in the High Jump with a leap of 1.96-meters (6'5").

Ten of the Rams will be traveling to compete in next weeks' ECAC Championships, competing in eight different events. The meet will take place at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. on March 3rd and 4th.
