FSC Earns Non-Conference Win at Brooklyn College

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The FSC men's tennis team traveled to non-conference opponent Brooklyn College on Wednesday afternoon and won, 8-1. Farmingdale State improved to 8-2 overall, while the Bulldogs fell to 6-8.

The Rams earned all three wins in doubles competition, including two shutout victories. Freshmen Mark Baker (North Baldwin, N.Y.) and Malik Bass (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) earned an 8-0 win at first doubles, while sophomore Steven Gaudio (Miller Place, N.Y.) and senior Daniel Kafka (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) picked up a shutout win in the #2 position. Farmingdale State's Colby Rodriguez (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Elijah McCall (West Babylon, N.Y.) recorded an 8-2 win in the third slot as FSC led 3-0 heading into singles play.

Farmingdale State took five singles matches as Baker won at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, Bass earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at second singles and sophomore Cooper Everett (Long Beach, N.Y.) took a 6-1, 6-1 decision in the third position. The Rams rounded out the 8-1 win as freshman Mario Contreras (Southold, N.Y.) (6-1, 6-1) and sophomore Michael Iorio (Massapequa, N.Y.) (7-6 (7-1), 6-2) won in the fifth and sixth slots, respectively.

The Rams next will host non-conference opponent York (N.Y.) later today at 4:00 p.m.
