Men's Tennis Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The men's tennis team captured their second consecutive Skyline Conference Championship as they defeated Mount Saint Mary in the semifinals and shutout Purchase, 5-0, in the Skyline Finals. The Rams traveled to Williams College for the NCAA Tournament and fell to Drew 5-1 in the first round. 

Junior Alex Bessarabov (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) won both of his playoff matches and was named the Skyline Conference Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Bessarabov, the Rams' #3 singles player, posted an 11-4 record, including a perfect 5-0 in conference matches this season.

Sophomore Christian Bormann (Huntington, N.Y.) was 10-5 in second singles, while freshman Justin Vijungco (Forrest Hills, N.Y.) was 8-6 in the #1 singles position. Bormann and Vijungco teamed in first doubles and had an impressive 10-3 record.

Sophomore Joseph Falcetta (Deer Park, N.Y.) (12-4) and junior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) (11-4) were the Rams fourth and fifth singles players, respectively. Junior Jack Eichler (Woodbury, N.Y.), Farmingdale State's sixth singles player, finished 10-3.

Vijungco was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Year and Bormann was named First Team All-Skyline. Bessarabov and Musalo each received Second Team All-Conference honors.

The Rams will be returning the core of their team next season as only one senior will be graduating this May.
