Farmingdale State - 5, Mount Saint Mary - 4

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Rams improved to 6-2 overall, 4-1 in the Skyline with a 5-4 victory over Mount Saint Mary (2-5, 2-3) on Saturday afternoon in a conference men's tennis match in Newburgh, N.Y. Freshman Tom Johnsen (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) remains undefeated after a 6-1, 6-2 win - his ninth win of the season at third singles.

With a 9-8 (7-3 tiebreaker) win at first singles by sophomore Joe Passarella (Flushing, N.Y./Holy Cross) and Johnsen, along with an 8-3 win at second doubles by senior Matt Kaczmarczyk (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), the Rams took a 2-1 lead heading into the singles matches.

Passarella defeated Danny Godfrey in first singles - 6-0, 6-3. Kaczmarczyk fell at #2 singles, 6-0, 6-1 to Joe Meilak. Johnsen won at third singles over Mike McNicholas, and sophomore Chris Genzmann (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) took a 6-3, 6-1 win at fourth singles from Zach Conlon. Junior Bill Jimenez (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and junior Joe Hotzak (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) fell at fifth and sixth singles on tiebreakers, but the Rams three wins would be enough for the 5-4 win.

Farmingdale State will close out the regular-season with two home matches against Staten Island on Tuesday, April 21st at 3:30 p.m. and Bard College on Saturday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m.
