Ragland Scores Five and Notches 100th Career Point in Rams Win at Purchase

Farmingdale State - 15, Purchase - 3


Purchase, N.Y. - Farmingdale State senior midfielder James Ragland (Seaford, N.Y.) recorded five goals to lead the FSC men's lacrosse team to a Skyline Conference win at Purchase this afternoon, 15-3. With the win, FSC improved to 10-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference play.

Farmingdale State opened the scoring just 1:13 into the game as junior attack Jake Satterley (West Babylon, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted goal.

Just over four minutes later, FSC's AJ Sandorfi (Lynbrook, N.Y.) scored to put the Rams up, 2-0. Ragland would record his first goal of the game only 33 seconds later to take a three-goal lead.

With 2:29 remaining in the quarter, Satterley set up Ragland for his second goal and his 100th career point to go in front, 4-0. 

The Rams led 5-0 after one quarter and outscored the Panthers (5-5, 0-3 Skyline) 4-1 in the second to take a commanding 9-1 advantage. Senior attack Shane Clark (Oceanside, N.Y.), Ragland, sophomore midfielder Richard Russo (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Sandorfi all registered goals in the quarter.

After Purchase produced the first goal of the second half, Clark tallied an unassisted score to regain an eight-goal lead with 10:40 left in the third. Just 44 seconds later, junior midfielder Dylan Fitzgerald (Farmingdale, N.Y.) set up freshman attack Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) for a man-up goal to put the Rams in front, 11-2.

Farmingdale State led 12-3 after three quarters and used scores from Fitzgerald, Ragland and junior midfielder Joe Watson (Brentwood, N.Y.) to cap off their 15-3 Skyline Conference victory.

With his five goals today, Ragland also set a new career-high for points. He currently has 40 points on the year, surpassing his 37 from a year ago. Both Clark and Satterley finished with two goals and an assist in the game, while Fitzgerald recorded a goal and three assists. Freshman midfielder Chris Kouimanis (Holbrook, N.Y.) registered a career-high three caused turnovers to go along with four ground balls and senior defender Dan Panzarino (Oceanside, N.Y.) added three caused turnovers. Sandorfi (2g), Russo (1g, 1a) and Wandle (1g, 1a) each tallied two points in the win.

The FSC men's lacrosse team next hosts Merchant Marine for a conference game on Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m. on senior night.
