Rams Bounce Back with Win over Hendrix
Farmingdale State - 20, Hendrix College - 7
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team bounced back after yesterdays loss, defeating non-conference opponent Hendrix College, 20-7 this afternoon. The Rams improved to 2-2 on the season, while Hendrix fell to 0-4. Farmingdale State held a 9-3 lead at halftime, before scoring 11 goals in the second half and winning the game by 13.
Sophomore midfielder Joey Stroessenreuther (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) led the Rams offensively, scoring five goals on seven shots, as well as recording one assist and five ground balls. Freshman attack Erick Thomson (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) had seven points, scoring three goals and four assists for Farmingdale, while senior midfielder Mike Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) had four goals and one assist. Senior attack Sean Maxwell (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) added three goals for the Rams. Freshman midfielder Joe Nacarlo (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) had a team-high seven ground balls and was 9-for-11 in face-offs. Junior midfielders Thomas Weil (St. James, N.Y./Connetquot) and Adam Zuar (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) each had six ground balls for Farmingdale and freshman defender Bobby Lazos (Bellmore, N.Y./Holy Trinity) led the team causing five turnovers.
The Warriors were led by sophomore defender Daniel Abernathy (Bullard, Tx./Bullard) who scored two goals on only three shots and had a game-high 11 ground balls. Sophomore midfielder Tim Wojick (Katy, Tx.) also scored twice and picked up seven ground balls, while Zach Doelger (Chesterfield, Mo./Christian Brothers), Justin Fortier (Niantic, Conn./East Lyme) and Jeff Appleton (Houston, Tx./Stratford) each added one goal for Hendrix.
The Rams will host non-conference opponent Wesleyan on Wednesday, March 18th at 4:00pm.
