2010 Men's Lacrosse Season Preview

- Season Opener this Saturday, Feb. 27th at 1pm -

Farmingdale, N.Y. – After falling in the Skyline Conference Semifinals in 2009, third year Head Coach Tim Tuttle is excited for the 2010 season. With a strong foundation of returners and the addition of talented freshmen and transfers, he feels the Rams can improve greatly in 2010. He’ll be joined on the sidelines this season by U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Famer, Stan Kowalski, and former C.W. Post Assistant Coach, Greg Cody. The Rams open the 2010 season on February 27th against Hartwick.

Highlighting the attack this year will be sophomore Erick Thomson (Floral Park), who led the team and conference in assists per game (2.21), led the team in points (63), was second in the conference in points per game (4.36) and scored 31 goals; senior attack Sean Maxwell (West Babylon) scored 27 goals and 16 assists. New additions are: Wes Hubschmitt (Seaford), who was an All-Tournament NJCAA player at Nassau CC and a member of the 2008 National Championship squad at Nassau. Joining them will be freshman transfer Peter Siemson (West Babylon/ NYIT), who might also see time at midfield.

In the midfield is returning junior Adam Zuar (Lindenhurst) and sophomores Joe Nacarlo (West Babylon) and Jimmy Oswinski (Kings Park). Zuar and Nacarlo return after splitting the duties at the Faceoff X last year. Helping them in the midfield will be new addition junior Rob Nosworthy (Massapequa), a transfer from Hartford Univ., and sophomore transfers Joe Loria (Bethpage/Nassau CC) and Larry Gerardi (Northport/Alfred).

Defensively, sophomore defenders Chris JapNgie (Massapequa) and Bobby Lazos (Holy Trinity) combined last season for 102 ground balls and 47 turnovers. Joining them on D will be Joe Ciaravino (Island Trees), who was another member of the 2008 National Championship team at Nassau. Additional help will be provided by freshman Jack Raden (Long Beach), Tom Gerwiler (Ward Melville) and Ricky Morales (Sachem North).

Sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal (Holy Trinity) returns after posting a .519 save percentage during his freshman campaign. He will be pushed by freshman goalkeeper Sean Martin (Walt Whitman), who has performed well in the fall and pre-season.
