Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team won their third straight conference game today with a 16-8 victory over Centenary College (1-5, 0-2 Skyline). After holding an 8-5 edge at the half, the Rams scored on 4-of-8 extra man opportunities in the final two periods and held the Cyclones to just two goals to improve to 3-5 overall and 3-0 in the Skyline Conference.
Farmingdale State had three players with four goals each. Junior Jeremy Goohs (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) finished with four and two assists, while senior Ryan LaFlare (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) and junior Chris Fiorenzo (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) both tallied four goals and one assist. Goohs put away the eventual game-winner at the 13:21 mark in the third period, assisted by sophomore Kevin Sharkey (Bellmore, N.Y./Mepham).
Senior goalkeeper Kevin Winters (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) had a great game in net for the Rams with 15 saves. Sophomore James Vaz (Hicksville, N.Y./Holy Trinity) and freshman Tom Dluginski (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) combined for six takeaways on the defensive end of the field, while junior Joe Gritser (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) finished 13-of-19 on the faceoffs.
The Rams will host Montclair State this Sunday, April 1st at 1:00pm for another Skyline Conference game.
