Men?s Lacrosse Season Preview

The Farmingdale State menís lacrosse team will open the 2005 season at Marymount University in Virginia on February 26, 2005. Steve DíArgenio enters his seventh season as head coach with help from Mike Cardello (Hartwick í04), John Vaeth (Farmingdale) and Eric LeFranc. The Rams return only nine players from last yearís roster, but added many talented transfers and eleven freshmen to the roster. Last year, Farmingdale finished 8-6 overall with their second ECAC bid in the past four years.

The offense will look to senior captain Matt Lott (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge) and sophomore Joe Meola (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) on attack. Meola finished the 2004 season second on the team in scoring with 28 goals and nine assists. Sophomore captain Ryan LaFlare (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) finished fourth in scoring last season, and will once again be working the face-offs for the Rams.

On the defensive end, senior goalie and captain Tony Sheridan (Merrick, NY/Mepham) is back in net for Farmingdale. Tony finished fourth in the nation with a .679 save percentage last year. Senior captain Scott Rothbaum (Merrick, NY/Calhoun) will join Sheridan on defense and look to improve on the Rams goals against average of 9.87.
