Farmingdale State - 74, The Sage Colleges - 55
Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all scorers with 33 points and 20 rebounds as Farmingdale State defeated The Sage Colleges 74-55 this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 7-4, 3-1 in Skyline play with the win, while the Gators fell to 6-5, 2-3.
The Rams trailed 11-4 with 14:39 remaining in the first half before a 17-1 run extended the lead to 21-12. Farmingdale State held a 32-24 halftime advantage, behind Matthews who scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Midway through the second half, the Rams opened up a 22-point lead en route to the Skyline victory.
Senior guard Ryan Davis (Queens, N.Y.) scored 18 points and tallied a game-high nine assists for Farmingdale State.
Gators senior forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, N.Y.) finished with 16 points, scoring his 1,000 career point. He is the first player in Sage history to eclipse the 1,000 point mark. Junior forward Mason Horne (Albany, N.Y.) had a team-leading 17 points in the loss.
The Rams next will travel to Maritime on Saturday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m.
