Matthews Named D3hoops.com Preseason All-American

- Matthews Named to First Team -


Farmingdale, N.Y. - D3hoops.com released the preseason men's All-America teams on Wednesday, November 7th and Farmingdale State's senior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up First Team honors.

The D3hoops.com preseason All-America team is chosen from previous years' All-American and All-Region nominations.

Last season, AJ led the Nation in rebounds per game (16.3) and double-doubles (26), while finishing 3rd nationally in blocked shots per game (3.67), 11th in scoring (22.4) and 12th for field-goal percentage (61.4). He was named a 2012 NABC DIII All-American and All-District Player of the Year, DIII News First Team All-American, D3Hoops.com All-Atlantic Player of the Year, ECAC DIII Metro Player of the Year, All-Met DIII Player of the Year, and Skyline Conference Player of the Year. He also broke 10 single-season school records and broke six All-Time career records at Farmingdale State.

AJ and the Rams will open the 2012-13 schedule at the Richard Stockton College Tip-Off on Friday, November 16th against Neumann College at 6:00 p.m.
