Skyline Releases Men's Basketball Report #12

- AJ Matthews named Co-Player of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the 12th Men's Basketball report for the 2011-12 season this afternoon, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics. Junior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week for the 7th time this season.

Matthews continued his spectacular season by leading the Rams to three conference wins. He finished the week averaging 21.7 points (57.4% FG), 17.3 rebounds, and 4 blocks per game. He posted game-highs in points and rebounds in all three games. Matthews scored 26 points and 13 rebounds vs. Yeshiva, 21 points and 15 rebounds vs. Purchase, and finished the week off with 18 points, a school-record 25 rebounds, and 7 blocks vs. Sage.

AJ currently leads Division III in rebounding (16.0) and double-doubles (21). He is also 2nd in blocks (4.0), 3rd in field goal percentage (63.4), and 13th in scoring (22.4). With a total of 87 blocks to date, he has shattered the school record for career blocks and blocks in a season. He also broke the record for single-season rebounds...with 336 to date.
