Rams Hold on to Defeat Blue Knights

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team had five double digit scorers in Saturday's 85-76 win at Mount Saint Mary. Junior guard Dyshaun Flournoy (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) scored a team-high 20 points as the Rams improved to 7-5 overall and 6-1 in the Skyline Conference.
The game was tied 25-25 with 6:49 remaining before halftime until junior guard Joshua Smith (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) hit a 3-pointer off Keith Nandin's (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) pass, which sparked a 17-6 Farmingdale State run to close out the half. The Rams shot 50% (7-for-14) from behind the arc in the first half.
Trailing 65-57 with 11:45 to play, Mount Saint Mary (8-5, 6-2 Skyline) went on a quick 9-2 spurt to pull within one. The teams traded two point baskets until Nandin connected from three point range, giving Farmingdale State a 74-70 advantage with 4:50 remaining. The Blue Knights were fouled on their next possession and converted both free-throws before Nandin's layup brought the lead back to four. The Rams would pull away over the final two minutes, handing Mount Saint Mary their second Skyline loss of the season.
Smith scored 19 points and had six rebounds, while Nandin and senior guard John Dabney (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) each tallied 14 points. Senior forward Jermaine Abraham (Brooklyn, N.Y.Wadleigh) recorded a double-double for Farmingdale State with 11 points and 10 boards.
The Blue Knights were led by freshman guard Joe Stabach (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) who scored a game-high 22 points and shot 6-of-9 from three point range.
The Rams next will host Purchase College in Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, January 11th at 8:00 p.m.
