Strong Second Half Helps Rams to 12th Straight

Farmingdale State - 91, Maritime College - 57


Farmingdale, N.Y. - After leading 33-28 at the half, the Farmingdale State men's basketball team (16-2, 11-1 Skyline) scored 58 second half points to take a 91-57 victory over conference opponent Maritime College (9-8, 7-5). With the win, the Rams increased their streak to 12 straight, dating back to a loss at Maritime on December 6th, 2008.

Five players from Farmingdale State scored in double-figures, including three double-doubles. Junior guard/forward Mike Campbell (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) scored game-highs of 23 points and 15 rebounds, while junior forward Daniel Phillips (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) finished with 22 points. Senior guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) ran the point with 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Rounding out the fivesome was senior forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) with 11 points and 11 rebounds and senior forward Davon Jackson (New York, N.Y./Rice) with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Privateers were led by senior forward Tim Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) with 19 points. Sophomore forward Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College H.S.) grabbed 14 rebounds in defeat.

The Rams will now host City Tech on Monday, February 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference game.
