Rams Continue Streak with Yeshiva Win
Farmingdale State - 78, Yeshiva University - 63
New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's
basketball team continued the winning streak on Tuesday night,
winning their eighth straight game with a 78-63 victory over
conference opponent Yeshiva University. The Rams now stand at 12-2,
7-1 in the Skyline, while Yeshiva falls to 5-7, 3-5 in the
conference.
The game was slow to start as the Rams led 15-10 with 12 minutes
left to play, before Yeshiva tied it up and then took an 18-17
point lead with 8:27 on the clock. But that would be the only lead
Yeshiva would hold for the rest of the night, as the Rams went into
the break with a 33-24 advantage.
In the second, Farmingdale built up a 25-point lead thanks to a
59-percent field goal percentage and would not look back as they
took the 78-63 victory.
Rams junior forward Mike Campbell (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers)
scored game-highs of 24 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Senior
guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) finished with 16
points, five steals and four assists. Senior forward Erastus
Shannon (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) had 14 points and junior
forward Daniel Phillips (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) contributed with 12
points and two blocked shots.
For Yeshiva, Martin Leibovish had a double-double of 21 points,
eight rebounds and three blocks, but committed nine turnovers in
the loss. Simon Brookim scored 12 points for the Maccabees.
The Rams will now travel to play Purchase College on Thursday,
January 22nd at 8:00 p.m. The Panthers are currently 8-4, 4-2 in
the Skyline.
