Rams Pull Away in Second Half to Defeat Golden Eagles
Farmingdale State - 84, St. Joseph's - 67
Patchogue, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State
men’s basketball team went on the road to St. Joseph’s
College (8-2, 3-1) and defeated the Golden Eagles 84-67. The Rams
improved their record to 9-2 overall, 4-1 in the conference.
Farmingdale State trailed by five at the half despite holding
a 29-23 rebounding advantage. The Rams were led by senior
guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Grady) who scored a
team-high ten points and recorded seven first half rebounds. St.
Joseph’s senior guard David Acree (Brentwood, N.Y. /
Brentwood) led all scorers in the first half with 17 points.
The Rams came out of the locker room to outscore the Golden Eagles
by 22 points in the second half. Junior guard Mike Campbell (Bronx,
N.Y. / Samuel Gompers) scored a team-high 23 points for Farmingdale
State, while Santana finished with 19 and grabbed 15 boards. Senior
forward Erastus Shannon (Amityville, N.Y. / Copiague) recorded 15
points and 10 rebounds in the win for the Rams.
Farmingdale State travels to Mount Saint Mary College to take on
the Blue Knights on Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 pm.
