Feb 19, 2007

The Skyline Conference seeding and pairing information has been announced for the Men's and Women's Basketball Playoffs. Farmingdale State's men's and women's teams will be hosting a Quarterfinal doubleheader on Tuesday night, February 20th.

The women's basketball team (17-6, 12-4 Skyline) is ranked #3 in the Conference and will host #6 Centenary (12-12, 6-10) at 6:00 p.m. Farmingdale defeated Centenary twice during the season, by scores of 78-69 and 103-96.

The Rams will bring a five-game winning streak into the Playoffs, led by the defensive play of senior guard Rochelle Clark, who has a team-high 98 steals to date, and junior guard Dankery Perez with a team-high 110 assists so far this year. Junior guard Christine Daley is averaging 13.9 points per game, after hitting 71 three-pointers with a .340 average. Freshman guard Kimberly Blakney has been strong since joining the team after the fall semester, she averages 16.8 points and 6.2 rebounds. Junior Jasmine Sistrunk was a late addition to the team, playing in just the final 7 games, and has proved herself with 10.3 points while shooting .574 from the floor.

The men's basketball team has received the #4 seed and will host #5 St. Joseph's on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. Both teams have identical records at 17-8 overall, 11-5 in the Skyline. The Rams won earlier this season, 81-64. After losing four straight for the first time in three years, the team recovered to win their final 7-of-8 games.

Entering the playoffs, sophomore guard Damien Santana leads the scoring with 352 points (14.1 per game) and also leads the team with 32 steals. Junior guard Peter Lipka is ranked 13th in the nation for 3-point field goal percentage at .459 and is scoring 11.4 per game, while also leading the team in free throws at 73-percent for the year. Junior guard Terry Menefee is the teams biggest defensive threat, holding 28 steals, 43 assists and 9.5 points per game. Juniors Tom Canning and Bobby Seible round out the top-five in scoring with 7 points and 4 rebounds each per game. Seible has also blocked 19 shots.
