Sharp Second Half Prevails Against Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, N.Y. - After trailing by one at the half, the Rams' sharp shooting in the second (58-percent from the field) led to a 76-69 victory over Mount Saint Mary (8-16, 5-10) tonight in Newburgh, N.Y. Farmingdale improved to 16-8, 10-5 in the Skyline with the win.

Rams junior forward Tom Canning (Oak Beach, N.Y./Babylon) posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Merlin Bass could not miss tonight, he shot 4-of-4 from the field and sank his only two free throws for a total of 10 points, while also adding four steals to the mix. Sophomore Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) finished with a team leading 13 points, while senior Terry Menefee (Montgomery, Ala./Shawnee Mission North, Ks.) finished with 11 points and a game-high five assists.

Mount Saint Mary senior Mike Hoyt led the Blue Knights with 28 points. Kieran Begley tallied 15 points and Chris Harrison had 12 for the night.

Farmingdale State will host Skyline opponent Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, February 17th for their final regular season game at 1:00pm. The Conference Playoffs begin Tuesday, February 20th and the Rams opponents will be finalized on Saturday night.
