Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell to 14-8, 9-5 in the Skyline with a 71-61 loss at home against Manhattanville College (19-5, 12-3). After leading 28-21 at the half, the Valiants forced 11 turnovers in the second and made 12-of-15 at the free throw line to win their second straight against the Rams and hold on to second place in the conference.
Farmingdale trailed by as much as 15 points in the second half and used a 15-2 run to cut the Valiants lead to one, 54-53, with 4:52 on the clock. A John DiBetta (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla) jumper and Brian Fink (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) three-pointer pushed the lead back to six, before senior Terry Menefee (Montgomery, Ala./Shawnee Mission North, Ks.) made a steal and layup to make it a four point game. With 12-of-13 successful free throws in the final four minutes, Manhattanville held on for the victory.
Rams junior forward Bobby Seible (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) finished with 13 points. Junior forward Brian Robinson (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and dished out five assists. Menefee had 11 points and three assists. Sophomore guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grady) totaled 12 points.
The Valiants were led by DiBetta with 22 points and five steals, while Fink finished with 15 points. Junior guard Cody Moffett (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edgemont) had 12 points, eight rebounds and six steals.
The Rams will travel to Baruch College on Monday night, February 12th, for a non-conference game at 7:00 p.m.
