Conference Win Streak Stopped by Manhattanville
Jan 20, 2007

Manhattanville - 70

Farmingdale State - 69

Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team (10-4, 6-1) had their conference win streak stopped by Manhattanville College (12-4, 5-2) today as the Valiants defeated the Rams 70-69. This was Farmingdale's first conference loss in 10 games, dating back to a loss at St. Joseph's on February 13, 2006.

The Rams held a one-point lead with nine seconds remaining, 69-68, but a Farmingdale foul with 0.8 seconds remaining, gave Manhattanville a chance for the win and Cody Moffett made the two free-throws for the 70-69 Valiants lead, and the final second shot did not fall for the Rams.

Farmingdale struggled from three in the first (shooting only 9 percent) and despite taking the second half, 39-35, the five-point deficit at the half and a 68-percent free-throw percentage would prove to be costly.

Sophomore guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, NY/Grady) led the Rams with 20 points, while junior guards Rich Riss (Tarrytown, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) and Peter Lipka (Shelton, CT/Shelton) posted eight points each.

Moffett registered a game-high 23 points, including the two game-winning free-throws. John DiBetta finished with 13 points and Donte Chisolm had a 12 point day for the Valiants.

Farmingdale will now host conference rival Old Westbury on Wednesday, January 24th at 7:00pm.
