Patchogue, NY - In a Skyline men's basketball game on Monday night, the Rams (18-5, 12-2) were upset by St. Joseph's College (15-9, 8-5), 70-68. Farmingdale State held a 6-point lead at the half, but St. Joseph's showed no signs of giving up. Junior Brian Fenton (Levittown, NY/Island Trees) hit a three-pointer to give St. Joe's a one-point lead at 9:17, which they would build up to an eight-point cushion. The Rams came back as senior Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) and junior Terry Menefee (Mission, KS/Shawnee Mission North) scored 10 of the final 14 points for Farmingdale, tying the score at 68 with 34 seconds left. But in the last possession for St. Joseph's, sophomore Chris Niblock (Bayport, NY/Bayport-Bluepoint) hit a jumper with five seconds on the clock to give the Golden Eagles a two-point lead and the 70-68 conference victory.
Farmingdale had four players in double figures. Senior MD Mazique (Bronx, NY/Taft) finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. McMillan had his 14th double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 boards. Freshman Daimien Santana (Brooklyn, NY/Grady) scored 11 points and had four assists. Senior Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) finished with 10 points.
St. Joseph's was led by junior Jorge Martinez (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) with 17 points, while freshman David Acree (Wheatley Heights, NY/Brentwood) tallied 15 points, all in the second half. Sophomore Phil Lipari (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) scored 13 points and Niblock finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Farmingdale State has finished their conference schedule and will travel to face City Tech for their final regular-season game on Wednesday, February 15th at 7:00pm. The conference tournament pairings will not be set until late Saturday night, but the men have clinched the #1 spot and will be hosting a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, February 21st.
