Winter Garden, Fla. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team opened the 2018 spring season with a dual match versus Luther College on Sunday and fell by three strokes, 316-313. The match was held in Winter Garden, Florida on the Panther Lake Course at Orange County National Golf Club.

Junior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.), who eagled the par 5 18th hole, recorded a runner-up finish after posting a 4-over par 76. Senior Andrew Goldman (Hauppauge, N.Y.) carded a 78, while freshman Nicholas Aurrichio (Nesconset, N.Y.) shot an 80 for the Rams.

Luther College was led by medalist Joe Fewer's (Edina, Minn.) 1-under par 71, while junior Spencer Horst (Rockford, Ill.) pitched in with a 78 in the three-stroke victory. 

Farmingdale State next will compete at Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield, N.J. for the NYU Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 7th and Sunday, April 8th.
