Skyline Spring Weekly Report #8 and Playoff Update

- Zilnicki named Player of the Week, Eilers named Co-Pitcher of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #8 on Monday, April 22nd, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Men's Tennis Update (10-1, 6-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams closed out their conference schedule with an 8-1 win at Mount Saint Mary College to finish with a 6-0 Skyline record and clinch the #1 seed in the playoffs.

Senior Ryan Musalo (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Player of the Week Honor Roll. Musalo was 2-0 at #2 singles and 1-1 in first doubles on the week. He earned a 6-4, 6-2 singles win versus MSMC and a 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) singles win over Baruch.

#1 Farmingdale State will host #4 NYU-Poly in the Skyline Semifinals on Thursday, April 25th at 4:30 p.m.  The winner will square off against the winner of #2 Mount Saint Mary/#3 Purchase. The Championship game is set for Saturday, April 27th at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Men's Lacrosse Update (7-7, 4-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's lacrosse team finished the regular season with a 4-2 conference record and have clinched the #3 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference Playoffs.

The #3 Rams will travel to #2 Kean in the semifinal round on Wednesday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m. The winner will face the winner of #1 Montclair State/#4 Richard Stockton in the Championship game on Saturday, April 27th at the home field of the highest remaining seed.

Women's Lacrosse Update (14-2, 10-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams went 3-0 this week, remaining undefeated in conference play and claiming the regular-season Skyline Title.

Named to the Skyline Honor Roll this week were sophomore Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) and freshman Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.). Thoden compiled 17 points and added 10 ground balls, while also surpassing her own school record for caused turnovers in a season with 41 to date. Ranaldo added five points and six ground balls in her two games played for FSC this week.

Farmingdale State has home field advantage for the playoffs and will host the winner of #3 Kean/#5 Mount Saint Mary on Thursday, April 25th at 4:00 p.m. The winner of that game will play in the Championship game on Saturday, April 27th at the highest remaining seed.

Baseball Update (24-10, 15-1 Skyline) - Full Report

This past week the baseball team posted a 5-1 mark with Skyline sweeps over Yeshiva and Purchase. The Rams split with 25th-ranked Shenandoah in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday. Farmingdale State secured the #1 seed in the playoffs with their sweep of Purchase.

Senior outfielder David Zilnicki (Riverhead, N.Y.) was named Skyline Player of the Week and senior pitcher Anthony Eilers (Bay Shore, N.Y.) earned Co-Pitcher of the Week honors for Farmingdale State. Freshman infielder Jorge Ruiz (Shirley, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll.

Zilnicki batted .615 (8-for-13) with seven runs scored, nine stolen bases and five walks. He was 5-for-6 with three runs scored and five steals in a pair of wins (4-2, 4-0) versus Purchase. Zilnicki had two multi-hit performances on the week. Eilers tossed a four-hit shutout on April 20th as Farmingdale State earned a 4-0 win over Purchase. He fanned eight and issued just one walk as he improved to 3-2 on the season. Ruiz hit .417 with five runs scored over six games for the Rams.

The baseball team will play two non-conference games in the week leading up to the playoffs. Farmingdale State will travel to Baruch on Thursday, April 25th at 3:30 p.m. and play at Staten Island on Wednesday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m.

The Skyline Conference Playoffs will be played at Farmingdale State on May 3-5.

Softball Update (20-14, 10-4 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams defeated John Jay last week with 11-2 and 9-1 victories. They are seeded #2 for the playoffs after finishing with a 10-4 Skyline record.

Named to the Skyline Honor Roll this week were freshman pitcher Renee Chicco (North Babylon, N.Y.) and junior shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.). Chicco earned her first win of the season, allowing just an unearned run on April 17th against John Jay, while Genova went 5-for-6 with 5 RBI in the doubleheader.

Top-seed NYU-Poly will host Skyline Playoffs (double-elimination) at Purchase College from Friday, April 26th - Sunday, April 28th. The Rams will face #3 Sage on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The winner will face the winner of #1 NYU-Poly/#4 St. Joe's on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., while the loser will play at 1:00 p.m. in an elimination game. The second elimination game will be played at 4:00 p.m. The Championship game is set for Sunday, April 28th at 11:00 a.m., with a game at 2:00 p.m., if necessary.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team won the five-team Old Westbury Invitational by 27 shots on Monday, April 15th at Southward Ho Country Club in Bay Shore, N.Y. Junior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) was the individual champion after a round of 75.

The Rams placed second out of nine teams at the Palamountain Invitational hosted by Skidmore College. Farmingdale State finished one stroke behind SUNY Delhi for the team championship. Larkin tied for second individually (75-74-149) and freshman Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) was tied for fourth place (77-73-150).

This week the men's golf team will travel to Island Hills Country Club in Sayville, N.Y. for the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship hosted by St. Joseph's College on Thursday, April 25th and Friday, April 26th.
