Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team swept CCNY (0-11) in a non-conference match-up this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved their record to 11-9 with the victory. Senior starting pitcher Mike Gionesi (Bellmore, N.Y. / Mepham / Stony Brook) secured the 3-1 win in the first game with a complete game one-hitter. Gionesi gave up one unearned run in the first.

In the second game, junior starting pitcher James Raimondi (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue) followed with four strong innings for the 10-1 victory. Raimondi allowed one run on three hits while striking out five.

For Farmingdale, junior center fielder Frank Yera (Manhattan, N.Y. / Clarendon CC) was 2-for-4 with a triple and a sacrifice fly on the day. Frank Ennis had a 2-run single to right center and a RBI-sacrifice fly. Freshman catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y. / Sachem North) and senior right fielder John Anarumo both notched doubles.

Junior Chris Torres (Staten Island, N.Y. / College of Staten Island) pitched well for the Breavers, going six innings giving up three runs on five hits. Torres keep it close, 1-1, until the fifth inning when the Rams' junior designated hitter Mike Labrozzi singled home the winning run.

CCNY's junior catcher Raymie Fernandez (New York, N.Y. / Clarkson) was 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.

Farmingdale will be back in action on Tuesday, March 24th as they host #8 Kean in a single game starting at 3:00 p.m. Come out and support your Rams as they try and knock off their third nationally ranked time this year.
