2007 Baseball Season Recap
The men's baseball team, under second year head coach Keith Osik, finished the regular season with a program record 21 wins, making their first-ever trip to the Skyline Conference Tournament. Rams Clinch Playoff Berth with Doubleheader Sweep over Mount Saint Vincent
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team clinched a playoff berth tonight with a doubleheader sweep over Mount Saint Vincent (10-20, 8-10) in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams will head to the Skyline Conference playoffs for the first time in program history, finishing the regular season with a record of 20-15 overall and 11-7 in the conference, another program best. Farmingdale won the 9-inning game with scoring in all but three innings. The first two innings called for a 3-3 tie, before the Rams broke away with a three-run third inning and then finished strong for the 10-4 victory. Rams Fall in Two Games at Stevens
Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team clinched a post-season berth with the sweep of a conference doubleheader with Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon. Stevens used a seven-run sixth inning to claim an 11-6 victory in the first game and defeated the Rams 7-5 in game two. With these wins, the Ducks will finish no worse than third in the Skyline Conference. Manhattanville College stands in first with an 11-4 league mark heading into today’s doubleheader with U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Centenary College and Stevens are tied for second at 13-5. Old Westbury stands in fourth with an 11-6 conference record. Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team (17-12, 9-5 Skyline) swept a conference doubleheader against visiting Mount Saint Mary College (8-13, 5-7 Skyline) by the score of 14-2 and 9-4. Farmingdale, NY - The Farmingdale State baseball team (10-8, 4-2) picked up two wins against Skyline Conference opponent Maritime College (1-10, 0-6) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. Baseball Drops Doubleheader to NJCU
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team (8-8) dropped both games of a doubleheader to New Jersey City University (8-7) tonight in Farmingdale, N.Y. Junior George Jessen (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) pitched the final four and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on three hits, for the 14-6 win for the Knights in the first game. In the second, junior pitcher Jose Sotomayor (Jersey City, NJ/Lincoln) went a complete game, letting up one earned run on three hits, for the 5-2 defeat to complete the sweep.

Tom Heeman Named Skyline Player of the Week
Farmingdale State sophomore outfielder/pitcher Tom Heeman (Valley Stream, N.Y./Hewlett) was named the Skyline Player of the Week for baseball on Monday, March 26th. Heeman had a strong all-around week in six games last week. At the plate, Heeman batted .474 (9-for-19) with three extra-base hits, four runs scored, three runs batted in and three stolen bases. He helped the Rams earn a split with Old Westbury by going 4-for-5 with two doubles in a 14-8 win in the second game. Heeman also pitched a nine-inning complete game against St. Joseph's, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out six. Farmingdale, N.Y - The Farmingdale State baseball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader with St. Joseph's College this afternoon in Farmingdale, NY. Sophomore Tom Heeman (Valley Stream, N.Y./Hewlett) pitched a complete game for the 7-1 victory, giving up one run on five hits and striking out six. The second game went scoreless through eight innings. The Golden Eagles took the lead on a bases-loaded clearing double by junior catcher Tyler Ruthizer (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) in the top of the ninth. St. Joseph's went on to win 5-0.

Rams Drop First Night Game to Cortland
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team, playing in their first night game in their new stadium, lost to sixth-ranked Cortland State(10-0) by a score of 16-5 in Farmingdale, N.Y. After the Red Dragons jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the top of the 4th inning, the Rams(6-4) fought back to make it 5-4 in the bottom of the frame. Cortland State quickly regained control, scoring a total seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to increase their lead to eight.

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team improved to 6-3 overall yesterday with a 10-3 win over the visiting Staten Island (1-3) in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams finished with 14 hits and held the Dolphins to just six in the nine-inning non-conference match-up. Farmingdale scored one run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead, before Staten Island took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second. Mazzilli and Levan Named Skyline Player and Rookie of the Week
Farmingdale State junior outfielder Anthony Mazzilli (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and freshman utility player Ray Levan (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) were named the Skyline Player and Rookie of the Week for baseball on Tuesday, March 13th. Farmingdale State College opened its season by winning five of its first eight games. Mazzilli batted .529 with five extra-base hits and seven runs batted in during that stretch. He had four multiple-hit games including a 2-for-4 performance with a home run and four runs batted in in a 12-6 win over Gwynedd-Mercy in the Rams' first game in Florida. Mazzilli also went 3-for-6 with two doubles and a triple in a doubleheader split against Muhlenberg. Levan has proven to be a versatile player early in the season for the Rams. Levan, who has also seen time as a pinch runner, hit .500 (2-for-4) with four runs scored and three runs batted in. He is also a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. Skyline Releases Spring Preseason Polls
The Skyline Conference released the Preseason Spring Coaches' Polls on Wednesday, March 7th. Men's Lacrosse received a fourth place ranking, while baseball was picked to finish fifth and softball and women's lacrosse hold a sixth place ranking. The polls will give the Rams something to focus on as they start their spring seasons, as many of the teams look to show the conference where they should really stand in the rankings. Spring reporting starts next week on Monday, March 12th when the Conference announces the Player and Rookie of the Week in each sport and also releases the overall statistics for the first time this season...

Baseball Game Set for Thursday against Kean
Farmingdale State Baseball will open the 2007 season on Thursday, March 1st with a single game against Kean University at 2:30 p.m. The Rams finished with a 19-19 record in 2006 and made their first-ever appearance in the ECAC Tournament. Farmingdale was ranked as one of the most improved teams in Division III after last seasons performance. Baseball to Host Two Ranked Teams in 2007
Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State baseball will play against two of the best in Division III this season. Cortland State and Kean University have been ranked on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Preseason Division III Poll which was released on Friday, February 2nd. Cortland was ranked 6th after a 39-9 record last year and Kean (31-17) was marked at 20th. Both games will take place at Farmingdale in the new stadium.
