Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team improved to 6-3 overall yesterday with a 10-3 win over the visiting Staten Island (1-3) in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams finished with 14 hits and held the Dolphins to just six in the nine-inning non-conference match-up.
Farmingdale scored one run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead, before Staten Island took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second. The Rams scored one more to make it 2-2 after two innings and would add eight more throughout, while the Dolphins only added their final run in the top of the ninth.
Rams freshman catcher Zach Nersesian (Nyack, N.Y./Nyack) led the team with three runs batted in, two hits and one run scored. Freshman outfielder Steve Campbell (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) had a team-high three hits for the day. Junior pitcher Yalxon Antonio (Bronx, N.Y./Park West) got the win for Farmingdale allowing just two hits and one walk in four innings pitched.
The Rams will now host Cortland State on Thursday, March 22nd at 6:00pm.
