Since joining the Washington Nationals' Triple-A affiliate roster in early August, Coach Osik has been awaiting a September major league call up. On September 6th, the Washington Nationals announced the selection of the contract of catcher Keith Osik from New Orleans. A member of the Nationals' spring camp, Osik went 9-for-44 in 17 August/September contests for New Orleans.
Osik, 36, has played seven positions at the big league level, including 300 games at catcher, where he owns a .991 career fielding percentage. He is a .231 career hitter with 13 home runs and 108 RBI in 450 major league games with Pittsburgh (1996-2002), Milwaukee (2003) and Baltimore (2004).
