Title: Assistant Coach - Horizontal Jumps/Javelin

Coach Johnson joined the FSC Track & Field staff in the fall of 2013 and will serve as our Horizontal Jumps coach and Javelin coach. He holds over 30 years of coaching at both the collegiate and high school levels.

In 1976 while competing at C.W. Post, he was a two-time All-American Javelin thrower and National Champion. After graduation, he began coaching at C.W. Post and was promoted to Head Coach in 1980, where he was the youngest NCAA Head Coach and held that coaching position for three seasons. While at C.W. Post, he coached two National Champions, 15 All-Americans and was named twice Metropolitan Coach of the Year.

In 1983, he was named the Head Coach of Cross Country and Winter/Spring Track at Walt Whitman High School where he spent eight seasons. He then served as the Head Coach of Cross Country and Winter/Spring Track at St. Anthony’s High School, before serving as the Assistant Coach at Mount Sinai High School for Winter and Spring Track. He is a six-time CHSAA Coach of the Year and seven-time Suffolk County Coach of the Year. In the high school ranks, he had six National Champions, 17 State Champions and 13 All-Americans.

Kevin received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from C.W. Post. He currently resides in Port Jefferson, N.Y.
